Trikatu: its benefits according to Ayurvedic medicine
In Sanskrit, "Trikatu" means "the 3 pungent spices". It's a blend highly prized in Ayurveda for aiding digestion and activating the digestive fire (Agni).
Trikatu is composed of ginger, black pepper and long pepper, which act synergistically to provide numerous benefits for the body, particularly the digestive system:
- Ginger is known for its ability to promote normal digestion and for its carminative action, which helps expel intestinal gas. In particular, it helps digest heavy, fatty foods. It is therefore a perfect ally after a hearty meal.
- As a complement to ginger, long pepper is a spice rich in piperine. Piperine is known to enhance the absorption and utilization of the plants and spices with which it is combined. Thus, long pepper combined with ginger and black pepper is said to help the body more easily assimilate all the nutrients it needs, such as vitamins and minerals.
- Finally, black pepper, much appreciated in Ayurveda, completes this blend to stimulate digestive glands such as the liver and pancreas.
2 capsules at noon and evening before meals
For 4 capsules: rhizomes of ginger* (Zingiber Officinale) 332 mg, fruits of black pepper* (Piper Longum) 332 mg, vegetarian capsule (hypromellose).
