Haritaki is an Indian tree that can grow to over 30 m tall, producing oval-shaped, wrinkled berries that start out pale green, then turn darker or even brown when ripe. It is these berries that are harvested, dried and powdered to take full advantage of their virtues.

Haritaki, or Terminalia chebula, is often considered in Ayurveda as the plant capable of suppressing disease, thanks in particular to its antioxidant properties that help strengthen natural defenses.
But this berry is best known for its presence in the famous Triphala, an ancestral Ayurvedic recipe that helps regulate intestinal transit.

Haritaki is therefore highly appreciated for its digestive properties. It helps to balance and maintain the regularity of elimination while supporting the proper functioning of transit and liver health. It also stimulates the digestive fire, Agni.
In Ayurveda, Haritaki is used to balance all the doshas, but is particularly recommended for calming Vata, the movement dosha.
