Botanical perspective
The Latin name Trigonella of Fenugreek, refers to the oval-shaped leaves that grow in groups of three. It is the only spice related to legumes (pitch, beans, clovers...). Its white flowers give pods containing 10 to 20 yellow seeds. These are the ones used in phytotherapy.
